more food related ness

so i’ll be making chicken a la king over the weekend,

i blame all the american food shows i’ve been watching, Man v Food & Diners, Drive ins and Dives are gonna take the “biscuit” ;)

i find myself mesmerised and drooling for philly cheese steak hogies and key line pie whilst thinking “it’s already gone 23:30 i can’t have anything to eat now”, and yet i end up dreaming of what i can make and adapt for UK palates :D

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Impossible Quiche

“borrowed” from MSE

Impossible quiche
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup SR flour
3 eggs
1 cup grated cheese
chopped bacon or ham
any grated veg you have – carrot, zucchini, chopped mushrooms, etc
1 onion chopped
1/2 can of drained corn niblets/ frozen peas
Mix all together and bake in moderate oven 3/4 hour or until brown on top.
 Makes it’s own pastry.

all i have to say is nomnomnomnomnomnomnom

we made this tonight and i’ve never seen my family devour food so fast, we actually made a double quantity one (Large flan/quiche dish) and there is only one portion left for lunch tomorrow (so this served 5 + leftovers along with lots of salad)

Charity shops and the prices!

well i have to say i am amazed at what some of them seem to think prices should be. for example was in one loally that had some tesco’s oven ware priced at £5 each, now i know that they weren’t even that new as i’d bought them! so i had to mention it to the lady at the till, luckily she was lovely about it and was going off to change it as i left.

but the shop next door has a very odd price policy, they sell mainly furniture and i understand they want to maximise what they get so the charity gets a good return but flipping heck they are so far removed. i could go to argos and get stuff new cheaper (and some of it whilst possibly antique is still overpriced for a shop that you’d think would want to help folks!)

sorry vent over

ioiwe :)

frugal soup

so i made the stock yesterday in the slow cooker using the chicken carcass from the roast, chopped in a couple of carrots and 2 halved onions.

today i’m roasting off some BNS (butterbut squash) and more carrots and then will blitz it all together!  that’ll be tomorrow dinner ready for pre pancake devouring time!!!

a frugal question….

….. ok was discussing this the other day and wondered, is it ok to take tupperware when you know there will be leftovers?

laundry gloop – test wash is on!! – Updated!

well fingers crossed the first wash with my gloop is on!!
i had to dilute it with some hot water as i think it is setting as the laundry is too cold :)

i’ll be back later with an update

UPDATE – ok all seems ok, have done two washes and it smells clean and once dried i’ll be able to tell if looks clean ;)
used a small wash ball about half full of gloop then used 1/4 more of warm water to loosen it, worked wonderfully :)
